The question “How can I increase affiliate sales?” should be the one thing that you ask yourself on a recurring basis if you hope to be a long-term success in Internet marketing (IM). The reason you should be asking yourself that, even if you already consider yourself a success at IM, its that stagnation and resting on laurels that has doomed many IM people to over the years. So don’t fall into that trap.

Much of this sort of marketing shares some common precepts with traditional types of real-world marketing. Always do what’s called a “PDCA” (Plan, Do, Check, Act). This means you should be planning constantly, when it comes to your affiliate marketing and sales goals. Are you planning a new marketing campaign? How about planning for a new website theme or design? Customers quickly tire of the same website theme or tired old products.

Next, are you carrying out your plan (the “Do”)? Have you taken your email list of customers and website subscribers, for instance, and made plans for sending them a new salesletter, touting the benefits of a new product you’re selling, or one of your own affiliates is selling? Do you send these people newsletters that are content-rich and enticing to them?

After that, are you gauging the results of these campaigns and mail-outs? What’s your “conversion rate?” This means how many people, once they come to your site, are clicking through your landing page and actually buying whatever it is you’re selling. If the rate is minuscule, or they’re not even bothering to go past your landing page, then you need to revisit your marketing campaign. This is all involved in checking, by the way.

Lastly, are you acting on all your research and either strengthening what you’ve found to be successful, or reconfiguring what you’ve found to be failing? This is acting upon what you’ve checked up on. No marketer worth his or her salt fails to do these things. In addition, when you do, in fact, make PDCA a part of “growing your garden” (your customer base), you’ll find great things will eventually happen.

Remember, increasing affiliate sales involves having a good website, for starters. It should be visually interesting and filled with useful information that’s easy to find. It also needs to have an effective landing page that entices visitors to head over to view the products you’re selling. It should have a mechanism for collecting emails, also.

It’s from these addresses that you’ll build lists for targeting marketing campaigns, too. Just remember to give these people a free gift of software or an eBook, or something (you can get them for free, generally). Put all of these activities together and wrap them up in a nice, bright red PDCA bow, and you should have at least a solid foundation for increasing affiliate sales.

You don’t have a college degree and wonder if you can survive working online. Is it possible to become an affiliate without higher education? What are the requirements to enter the internet marketing ? Can you become successful without masters in business marketing?!

I personally don’t think that a college degree plays a major role in affiliate marketing. Not many people realize it, but you can actually be a drop out and make more money than any most qualified attorney, programmer or even a doctor.

It is important to understand that even if you are not enrolled into a socially acceptable formal higher-education facility, you can still be learning and, most importantly, practicing right away.

In most cases, university graduates have absolutely no idea how to implement their knowledge obtained within 3-4 years of hardcore theoretical schooling. It takes years of practice before any of them become professionals. 

Learning yourself gives you an opportunity to give things a try, learn from the mistakes and enquire the knowledge along side with the actual practice. The only problem is the lack of an actual certification of your professional qualifications. However, who needs those when you are your own boss!?

Forex affiliate marketing, or any marketing in that sense, is all about working hard and never give up. The continuous affiliate challenges, goals and results depend entirely up to you and are in fact the key to unchain your true potential!

I am personally a computer science graduate and, honestly, I do use my programming knowledge from time to time. However, it is rarely related to the actual affiliate marketing! Of course, I might have a clearer understanding of Joomla, HTML coding, CSS sheets and what not, however anyone without a degree in computers who learns and tries it year after year can actually be much better than me!

What if you have a degree in English or any other language? How can this help? Writing articles can be tricky if you don’t possess certain skills, however today you can either outsource it, or learn the art of persuasion from any online free ebooks, websites or forums!

Some of the most successful affiliates I know did not complete college. If you are still not convinced that the lack of degree will not ruin your affiliate potential, look at all those teenagers that are making money online!  In the affiliate world, it doesn’t matter whether you have a certificate hanging on the wall of your study or not. You can learn more in couple of months about affiliate marketing, then in years of going to class room and making homework assignments.

I have a friend who recently finished a degree in computer science. Her final project was based on building a joomla-based website for the college with picture gallery, member registration and a forum. It was difficult, but she managed and got an A for it. Do you really need a degree of it? No! Tones of affiliates can turn this project into an A+, by actually making money from it!!

What I am trying to say is that this article should not be used to make a decision whether to go to college or not! There are many positive aspects in higher education and the shiny piece of paper (aka degree) will definitely play its dues throughout your life.

Affiliate marketing aside, imagine the end of the cyber world (well, help me out here and try being as creative as possible!). The degree might come in handy then, right?!

I do not regret studying programming – it was one of the kind, exciting and adventurous experience not only educationally, but also socially.  The only thing I might have done differently, if I had a change to do it all over again, is choosing the more specific degree – like internet marketing, for example.

In other words, if you don’t have a degree and aren’t on the verge of a major decision-making regarding your educational future – don’t let it stop you from entering internet marketing with your head up high!

What is affiliate marketing?

In a nutshell affiliate marketing is when you sell or get leads for another merchants product or service. When a merchant needs help to get sales he will find, especially for “hot” products, that he will have more than ample affiliates willing to help him sell it. All you have to do is sign up as an affiliate to be paid a commission or a flat rate rate per lead or sale. The rate of commission can vary greatly from a small percentage up to 100% of the selling price.

How to make money with affiliate marketing.

A decent income can be achieved in a number of ways. Some affiliates use a website, others a blog, newsletter, emails, ads etc. A lot of affiliates use a website or blog to promote products and/or services because they can easily collect email details for the further follow up of people interested in what they are promoting. It also allows them to add their personal unique content and to eventually become an expert in their chosen niche market. You will also notice that most successful affiliates use a domain name relevant to what they are selling.

After you have selected a suitable affiliate product to promote you will need to find some good keywords. Some merchants now provide lots of tools for their affiliates which include relevant keywords. So pick a relevant domain name based on one of those keywords and have it hosted by a good hosting company with minimal down time.

Next decide if you want a website or blog. A blog is easier to update and is more search engine friendly so my preference is to go for a blog. Some affiliates just use a simple squeeze page to collect email details on the way through to the merchants sales page. Add some content to your website or blog and embed your affiliate links in the text and pictures.

So now you have your blog all set up but very little will happen unless you promote it. You can get instant traffic using paid advertising such as PPC ( pay per click) or you can use the various free alternatives available. You can do some bum marketing or article writing, brag about your site on sites such as Twitter or Facebook or create other web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, Blogger or HubPages to send traffic to your main site.

Optimising your site for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a great idea. Some blogs already have this built in to a certain extent. This is where your keywords come in handy because if you can optimize your site for some good keywords it will help get you to the top of the search engines ranking a lot faster. You can either learn how to do this yourself or hire an SEO expert.

As mentioned previously writing unique articles about the market you are promoting and submitting them to high ranking article directories will bring some targeted traffic to your website from the link you place in the resource box of your articles. They will also add back links to your site which will also help you rank higher in the search engine results for your targeted keywords.

The 1st kind of selling that you must never do is to hard sell the affiliate product to the customer. If you keep on taking action that makes the customers feels that they are being forced to purchase the product, they will tend to react against it and they will even purchase the product. The main reason is because nobody like to be forced to make a decision especially when it comes to selling.

The kind selling that you as an affiliate should do is to presell the products that you are promoting.  When you are doing preselling, you will be doing it as through you are the customer’s friend. You will be educating them about the product, the kind of benefit that the people get after they purchased the product and then inviting them to take a look if they are interested. When you do it correctly, your customers will not feel that they are being forced to look at the product.

As your customers might already be looking for certain information or product that will solve their problem, your effort in trying to educate them will makes them feel that you are really interested in helping them by proving them with the right information. When they feel that way, they will be more inclined to click on your affiliate link to get more information.  This is very powerful as you will be getting visitors who are really interested in what you are offering.

Once you get the visitors to click on your affiliate link, you have done your presell successfully and you will have to leave it to the merchant’s sales letter to do the closing of the sales. You want to make sure that you have selected an affiliate product with good sales copy so that you will be able to get more profits after you have done the preselling successfully.

Do put in the effort to master this kind of preselling and you will be able to see the increase in your affiliate commission.  Do not hard sell your customers. When you gives them values consistently over a period of time, your customers will take care of you by purchasing the product that you are recommending.
